Multan: A grand cleanliness drive has begun to clean interior Multan’s densely populated union councils and Circular Road, according to a news report. Multan Waste Management Company Managing Director Iqbal Fareed launched the drive with the formation of a special squad of sanitary workers.
On the occasion, the squad of sanitary workers, with the help of heavy machinery and water tankers, cleared huge amount of rubble and garbage from Circular Road, Haram Gate, Delhi Gate, and surrounding areas. The garbage dumps were cleared on the occasion too. The cleanliness drive was overseen by Deputy Manager Operations Usman Khursheed. Khursheed’s team while conducting the door-to-door drive also distributed pamphlets on the importance of cleanliness.
Briefing on the matter, Fareed said that special efforts are being made to introduce modern cleanliness system in the city. He said that to resolve the garbage issues of the small streets in the inner city, staff have been provided carts while the dustbins are also being installed. Commercial and education institutions have been directed to dump their garbage in special public dustbins installed for the purpose.
