Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has requested the authorities concerned to consult the business community and taxation experts while drafting the proposed amnesty scheme, a news source reported.

RCCI President Malik Shahid Saleem observed that the asset declaration scheme would fail to achieve its desired objectives if it has little input from the stakeholders concerned.

He reiterated that the chambers do not oppose such schemes. He added that they have a right to voice their concerns to the finance ministry and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

The RCCI president stressed the need to regularise undocumented sectors of the national economy. For this purpose, he requested the government to introduce amendments in the relevant laws.

He suggested incentives for taxpayers and said that both short-term and long-term reforms in the tax regime would help the government overcome the current tax shortfall.
