Bannu: Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly (NA) Zahid Akram Durrani on Wednesday (July 13) announced massive development projects worth PKR 15 billion for the Bannu district, news sources reported. The projects include the expansion of Bannu Airport and the development of two universities.

According to reports, Durrani announced during a post-Eid gathering in the city that the projects would be sponsored by the federal government in order to expedite the development of the city’s infrastructure. He stated that the government has set aside large sums of money for the expansion of the Bannu Airport and the construction of two new institutions, one of which will be dedicated to women. In addition, the projects involve the construction of road infrastructure, irrigation systems, agricultural enhancement programmes, and boosting the height of the Baran dam to increase its water storage capacity.

It is worth noting that the Bannu Airport expansion was announced in 2015, however, the project was delayed due to a variety of factors.
