Rawalpindi: The government plans to sell unutilized state land at the prevailing market rate to address the annual budget deficit – a news source quoted Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, Naeemul Haq.
Talking to reporters at the National Press Club Rawalpindi Camp, Haq said that several government departments own unutilized land which will be sold. The money generated in the process will be spent on various development projects.

Similarly, he said that the unutilized state land in Rawalpindi will be sold, and the earnings spent on development projects within the garrison city. He added that the government is already taking measures to improve the local economic situation.

Haq also announced several mega projects, including Leh Expressway and Ring Road, which, he said, will be launched soon. Rawalpindi will be transformed into a developed city in the next five years, he added.
Regarding encroachments, he said the government has issued clear directives, and that the matter of people residing within illegal constructions will be dealt with as per the Supreme Court’s orders.
