Multan: The government plans to reduce the cost of doing business by slashing duties on raw material and intermediary goods in the upcoming federal budget for (fiscal year) FY2019-20, a news source reported.

Adviser to the Prime Minister (PM) on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood recently expressed his views on the matter. He was speaking at the launch ceremony of a PepsiCo plant in Multan on Thursday.
PepsiCo Pakistan and Afghanistan Vice President and General Manager Furqan Ahmed Syed, PepsiCo partner suppliers, and several senior officials of the government were all present at the occasion.
The adviser lauded the establishment of the soft drink facility in Multan. He said that investments of such stature signal the confidence reposed by global companies in Pakistan’s manufacturing sector.

He said that the incumbent government wants investors to manufacture goods for local consumers. He added that the authorities concerned do not want to rely on costly imports of consumer goods.
