Lahore: The Government of Punjab on Tuesday finalised the Punjab Rozgar Programme – under which soft loans worth half a million to a million rupees would be disbursed in the initial phase, according to news sources.

Reportedly, the limit of loans given under the Punjab Rozgar Programme will be extended to five million rupees, in the second phase of the initiative. The final proposal of the scheme was previously submitted to the steering committee and the final decision in this regard was taken by a meeting recently held under the chair of Minister for Industries and Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal along with Minister for Finance Hashim Jawan Bakhat.

The meeting was informed that this loan initiative is launched with the assistance of the Bank of Punjab (BoP) to help revive the old businesses and launch newer ones in the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic and its economic implication. It is highlighted that PKR 9 billion has been earmarked for the said initiative and a transparent mechanism will be formulated to disburse the soft loans.
