Islamabad: The federal cabinet on Tuesday decided to launch the second phase of the Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme to mitigate the financial vulnerability faced by the underprivileged sections of the society, according to a news source.

The decision was made in a cabinet meeting held under Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan. Later, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz briefed the media on the project’s updates. He said that under the project’s first phase, PKR 150 billion were transparently disbursed among various vulnerable families to help them survive the coronavirus pandemic.

He said that the prime minister has issued directions for the Adviser for Finance Hafeez Shaikh to start the preparations for the second phase of Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme. He also revealed that the government has issued directions to ensure strict implementation of precautionary measures to prevent the coronavirus from further spread – during the upcoming event of Eid-ul-Azha.
