Lahore: The Punjab government will begin constructing low-cost houses under the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP) project in Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot, and Chiniot from next month onwards, a news source reported.

Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed recently expressed his views on the matter. He was presiding over a meeting of the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) in Lahore on Tuesday.
PHATA Director-General Liaquat Ali Chatha gave briefings on the launch of NPHP project in Chishtian, Renala Khurd and Lodhran. He also briefed the minister on the housing projects planned for Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Toba Tek Singh, Muridke, Jhelum, Pattoki, Rahim Yar Khan, Minchinabad, and Jhang.

In response, the minister directed the agency to complete the land acquisition process for NPHP in other cities of the province. PHATA officials were told to finalise matters with the Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) for acquiring 600 kanals of land in the city.
