Islamabad: The Ministry of Science and Technology has told the Senate Standing Committee on Science and Technology that the government will introduce PayPal and other related online payment platforms in Pakistan soon – a news source reported.

Briefing the senate committee, the Ministry officials said that the policy concerning PayPal is in the advanced stages, and important developments are expected in this regard in the coming two weeks.
Comsats University Rector Dr Raheel Qamar was also present on the occasion, and he complained to the committee that the absence of effective copyright laws was discouraging innovation in the country.

Talking about the research and development efforts made by his alma matter, Dr Qamar stated that no amount of advanced and successful research papers are of benefit to his students, or those who invest in such ventures, if copyright laws are not revised. He believed that it was easier to get a copyright of a product registered in the US, as compared to getting one in Pakistan.
