Murree: The Punjab Government will relaunch and extend Jhelum Bulk Water Supply Scheme to Rawalpindi, a news source reported. The project was initially launched for a proposed city near Murree. However, the new city project was later cancelled.
Now the provincial government has given a fresh approval for the project that will bring water from Jhelum River and the water will be provided to Rawalpindi. The water will first be brought Murree and Kotli Sattian from Kohala, Jhelum River and then will go to Rawal Dam from which it will be supplied to Rawalpindi and its cantonment areas.

The water will be supplied to Rawal Dam through a pipeline from the Murree and Kotli Sattian junction and PKR 260 million will be spent on the project. RDA Chairman Arif Abbasi confirmed that the proposal is under consideration to ascertain if the excessive water under the project could be used for Rawalpindi.
