Islamabad: The government is planning to develop its mineral policy in accordance with modern lines, a news source quoted Dr Syed Akhtar Hussain Shah. Shah is a member of Planning Commission for Private Sector Development and Competitiveness. He added that this kind of policy will enable the mineral sector to create more jobs and improve exports.

A consultation session was organised by the Planning Commission at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI). The session acquired input and proposals from the business community for creating a new mineral policy fully in-line with modern standards.

Shah stated that the government aims to develop the policy after consultation with all stakeholders. He added that a draft framework has been created after studying the primary and secondary data, and after consultations with the key parties concerned. He has invited the business community to offer its input for improving the framework further.
