Islamabad: The government has decided to complete projects pertaining to the oil and gas sector in a phased manner, a news source quoted Federal Minister for Petroleum Ghulam Sarwar Khan as saying.

The minister, who was chairing a meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday, said sustainable energy was a strategic requirement of Pakistan as it would help address economic challenges.
He said that the government was giving special attention to oil, gas and LNG projects as they make up 75 percent of the country’s energy supply mix.
He ordered the department concerned to upgrade the country’s gas infrastructure on a priority basis in a bid to improve efficiency standards. He said projects should be undertaken after careful and effective planning.

The participants held discussions on the country’s energy demand and supplies. Moreover, issues pertaining to various gas infrastructure projects came under discussion.
