Islamabad: The government has decided to arrest high-net-worth tax evaders (residing in the 10 largest cities of the country) from June 21 onwards, a news source reported.
This operation will be launched against billionaires residing in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Peshawar, Hyderabad, and Karachi.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) recently completed its data-acquisition process with regard to the details of assets and accounts of some four million individuals.
As per reports, the property details of these individuals are now available with the FBR, which has also developed a software in collaboration with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for tracking down rich tax evaders.
Moreover, the software has been programmed to disclose the asset details of individuals by tracking their CNIC numbers.
