Islamabad: The federal government, under its 12th Five-Year Plan, aims to achieve a 5.4-percent growth rate in terms of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) during the next five years – a news source reported.

A special meeting to this effect took place in Islamabad. Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Reform Khusro Bakhtiar presided over the meeting.
Adviser to the Prime Minister (PM) for Commerce Abdul Razzak Dawood, Secretary Planning Zafar Hasan, Secretary BISP Ali Raza Bhutta, Chief Economist Ejaz Wasti, along with other officials concerned, attended the meeting.
The minister said that the 12th Five-Year Plan should contribute to the economy by covering all aspects aimed at attaining sustained economic growth. The expected outlay of this plan is PKR 11.750 trillion.

The participants were informed that a draft of the plan was ready to be placed before the Economic Advisory Council (EAC) for suggestions and improvements. After EAC’s nod, it will be submitted to the National Economic Council for final approval.
