Islamabad: The government slashed re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) prices for the consumers of Sui Northern Gas Company Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) on Thursday, a news source reported.

As per the publication, the Oil and Gas Authority (OGRA) reduced the prices for consumers by 21.42% for SNGPL and 19.11% for SSGC. Prices were cut down for both state-owned companies for the month of May. The RLNG prices have been fixed at USD 7.5105 per million metric British thermal units (MMBTU) for SNGPL and USD 7.7521 per MMBTU for SSGC in May.

It is expected that the reduced RLNG prices would also cut the costs of power generation from these sources as they contribute to the country’s energy. According to the information released, the updated prices of RLNG also included miscellaneous charges, such as margins of the Pakistan LNG Limited (PLL) and Pakistan State Oil (PSO), port charges, transmission losses, and LNG terminals charges.
