Karachi: The Sindh government has publicised the timeline for the projects being launched under the recently ‘Karachi Transformation Package’, according to a news report published on September 18.

According to the details shared, the first project under the PKR 1.13 trillion initiative would begin in October and will be completed in November. Included in the said transformation package, the Korangi Ibrahim Hyderi Shah and People’s Square will be opened to the public in November.
During the same month, the foundation stone will also be laid for Malir Expressway. The Malir Expressway project will be completed under a public-private-partnership (PPP) model. Moreover, the documentation and feasibility study for the road project has already been approved.

The foundation stone for Yellow Line Bust Rapid Transit (BRT) project spanning over 26.5-kilometres — from Landhi to New M.A. Jinnah road — will be laid in December.
Reportedly, the Yellow Line Bus project – which is being launched in collaboration with the World Bank – is to be built at an estimated cost of PKR 14.4 billion; with 104 new buses expected to run on the route. The design feasibility report and other matter are currently underway to prepare for the project launch by the end of 2020.
