Lahore: The Punjab government announced its decision to set up a National Park at Kundian to provide entertainment facilities to the people, according to news published on Wednesday (September 22). As per the details shared, the park will span 50 acres of land, at an estimated cost of PKR 176 million. It was also mentioned that the park will have various amusement facilities including rest houses, Mianwali History Museum, visitor huts, monuments, botanical gardens, and other such tourist attractions.

Last year, Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar started a plantation campaign to restore forests spanning 200,000 acres in the Kundian area, the second-largest city of District Mianwali. According to news sources, CM Buzdar stated that 500 million saplings will be planted, at the cost of PKR 26 billion in four years. He went on to say that a clean and green environment is a necessity for future generations.

Sharing more details about the tree plantation, it was reported that 4 million saplings will be planted on 5,500 acres in the next 4 years. CM Buzdar stated that restoration of the Kundian forest will protect the wildlife and area from climate change and will also create job opportunities.
