Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Reform, and Special Initiatives Asad Umar has said that inviting private sector to contribute to Pakistan’s infrastructural development is a priority for the government.
He said this while chairing the 3rd meeting of the Public-Private Partnership Authority (PPPA) Board of Directors on Wednesday.

The National Highway Authority team briefed the board members on the Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway (M-6) project’s commercial feasibility. In response, the board directed the authority to expedite the feasibility work to facilitate the early launch of the project.

Minister Umar directed the Authority management to pick up the pace on the development work of other projects in the pipeline. He stressed that public-private partnership model offered a lot of potential undertakings that need to optimally utilised. He also mentioned that whenever feasible, the government will contribute to filling the gaps in funding if private sectors cannot support it.
