Islamabad: The government has announced that certain public places in the federal city will remain closed on account of full-dress rehearsals and the Pakistan Day Parade, according to news sources published on Wednesday (March 9). The National Day Parade will be held at the Parade Ground in Islamabad on March 23.

Reportedly, Islamabad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hamza Shafqaat has directed the city administration to close certain public areas on March 16, 18, 20, and 23. To avoid any untoward situation and facilitate the guests on the Pakistan Day Parade, the following public areas will be closed:
- Café 1969
- ITP Office
- Lok Virsa Museum
- Pakistan Museum of Natural History
- Pakistan Monument
- Open Air Theatre
- Any other major facility on Garden Avenue, in close vicinity of Parade Ground likely to affect traffic control/security aspects on said dates
As per the details, the preparations for the National Day Parade are in full swing as the military is also preparing its exercises for the event. It was informed that this year’s parade will be attended by Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Keeping this in view, the Islamabad administration has made foolproof security arrangements for the event.

In a related development, Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has announced three holidays in Islamabad for the 48th session of the OIC Council of Foreign Minister (CFM) and Pakistan Day. It was disclosed that 22, 23, and 24 March will be observed as a holiday in the city.
