Karachi: The federal government on Tuesday announced its decision to rehabilitate the rail tracks in Sukkur Division’s Phase 4, a news source reported. It further stated that it would carry out repair works on the rail tracks situated between Rehmani Nagar and Bakrani Road in the Dadu-Habibkot Section.

Recently, the Planning Commission had provided its approval to the project at a cost of around PKR 2 billion. Out of the said amount, the government is expected to provide PKR 1.254 billion through its own resources, whereas the remaining PKR 732 million will be covered through foreign financing method.
As per the PC-1 of the project, the government would rehabilitate the 56-km long section of the ML-2 between Rehmani Nagar and Bakrani Road along the Dadu-Habibkot Section. The project would include the complete renewal of the track and lop lines.

The project also includes the rehabilitation of 20 level crossings and the procurement of track-related machinery. Following its completion, the project would restore the section speed of the track to its normal rate at 75 km per hour.
