Rawalpindi: Advisor to the Prime Minister (PM) on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood on Wednesday announced the government’s decision to pursue a ‘Look Africa’ policy in order to explore new markets and enhance exports, a news source reported. He was speaking at the Virtual International Trade Forum organised by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI).

He stated that the government was facilitating exports by reducing regulatory duties, customs duty and tariffs on a number of products with a view to boost trade with African countries. He added that Pakistan had initiated the export of microwave ovens and refrigerators to a number of countries in Africa.
He said that even while the decline in exports for other countries has been in double digits, Pakistan’s exports have only been reduced by 6%.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Additional Secretary Ali Javed, speaking on the occasion, also revealed that Pakistan had improved its ranking in business facilitation under the government’s ease-of-doing-business initiative (EODB). He also emphasised the need for improving Pakistan’s image and enhancing new sectors and products.
