Islamabad: The federal government has decided to invest PKR 469 billion on infrastructure development projects, including projects aimed at modernisation and upgradation for ‘accelerating growth’, news sources reported.

The proposed projects include the expenditure on the sectors of energy, water, environment, risk management and transport.
According to the details shared, the following amounts are pledged for the infrastructural upgrade:
- PKR 228.767 billion has been set aside for the energy sector development
- PKR 90.313 billion allocated for the water sector projects
- PKR 14 billion will be spent on the Ten Billion Trees Tsunami Programme (TBTP) Phase-I and the training of the local population in Risk Disaster management

- A total of PKR 302 billion has been set aside for the construction of logistics and transportation infrastructure. Previously, the government had budgeted 173.8 billion in the fiscal year 2021-21 for logistics and transportation, but only PKR 127 billion were used. The modernised logistics budget for the current fiscal year 2021-2022 is 74% higher than the previous year.
