Islamabad: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on National Security Moeed Yusuf on Wednesday said that the government had permitted commercial airlines to repatriate stranded Pakistani citizens from countries where the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) does not operate, a news source reported.

He expressed his view on the matter during a press conference held at the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC). He asked the stranded Pakistanis abroad to enlist themselves with their respective embassies and the embassies would prioritize people for repatriation.

SAPM also informed the media about measures installed for those who return from abroad. He said that the returnees were tested for COVID-19 within 48 hours of their arrival. He said that the results of the test were disclosed within 3-4 days.

Yusuf acknowledged the agitation of the returnees and their families and assured that there was no limit on flights bringing back the stranded nationals. He informed that the government would bring back citizens from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia in the coming week.
