Islamabad: The government has offered a deadline extension to agricultural power consumers for paying Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA) charges, a news source reported. The consumers were required to pay the charges for November 2019 to January 2020 in three months, which they will now pay in six months’ time as per the provided relief.

The extension will apply to the consumers of all state-run power distribution companies, except Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO), since its agricultural consumers already receive a subsidised power supply.
According to the notification issued by the government, the FPA for November 2019, December 2019, and January 2020 will be spread over six months – starting from January 2020 and ending in June 2020. It further mentions that the billing for February 2020 to April 2020 will spread over three months – from February 2020 till April 2020.

The government has provided the said relief as part of the Prime Minister (PM)’s Agriculture Emergency Programme for farmers.
