Quetta: The Grok Dam construction project has been given the green signal after a long period of delay, a news source reported. The Government of Balochistan has taken steps to eliminate all hurdles that were previously in the way of the initiative. Construction work will begin in the Kharan District in the near future, as per an official statement.
The project had witnessed a complete standstill since 2009.
When completed, it is expected to resolve the water crisis faced in Rakshan Division. According to an official source, the provincial government is planning for construction to begin in the coming days. This announcement has been hailed as a major development aimed at resolving water-related issues in Kharan.

Grok Dam project is expected to incur a total cost of PKR10 billion. The federal government will provide ninety-percent of this amount, while the provincial government will bear the rest.
Earlier, the Government of Balochistan had also signed a deal with the Asian Development Bank (ADB). It includes a $107 million project for improving the irrigation infrastructure and water resource management systems of the province.
