Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has shared that the national solar energy policy will be unveiled next month and it will reduce fuel imports, provide clean energy, and decrease the cost of electricity, according to a news story published in the leading newspaper on July 7.

A meeting of the energy task force was held with PM Shehbaz in the chair. During the meeting, the premier was briefed on the key solar energy initiatives. It was decided that the national solar energy policy will be implemented after approval from the Council of Common Interest (CCI).

It is important to note that the federal government has exempted the local supply chain and import of solar panels from sales tax for the fiscal year 2022-23 (FY2022-23).
