Islamabad: The government is looking into options to outsource the country’s airports’ facilities; with a committee already having submitted a report to Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on the matter, a news source reported on August 22.

The committee, led by Advisor on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood, in the ‘Report on Outsourcing of Major Airports of Pakistan’ recommended the establishment of two entities following the proposed division of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
The proposed Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) will be tasked with performing regulatory functions, while the Pakistan Airports Authority will be tasked with managing airports. The separation will be done after approval from the CAA Board.

In the next step, the government will take further steps to outsource the airports. First the airports will be turn into corporations to attract investors following which private investments will be attracted.
