Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has decided to launch 13 new metro bus routes in Islamabad for the provision of better public transport facilities, according to news published in the national dailies on November 4.

According to the details, the administration has launched a project to connect different sectors of Islamabad with the metro bus. The first phase of the feeder routes project will be completed in the first quarter of 2023. The phase will include 13 routes and 128 buses. It was mentioned that these feeder routes will provide international standards and comfortable travel facilities to 100,000 commuters.
Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb stated that the new routes have been identified and will be linked with the operational metro bus routes. The project will be executed by the Capital Development Authority (CDA). The news source reported that the CDA has conducted a study to identify routes for the metro bus, it includes a route from:
- Police Foundation/ Orange Line Station to Red Line Faiz Ahmed Faiz Station I-8
- PIMS to Secretariat
- Allama Iqbal Station to Red Line Potohar Station
- D-12 to G-10
- Nilor to Khanna Pul
- F-11 to Red Line F-8 station
- G-11 to PIMS
- Aahpara to Tramri Chowk
- B-17 to 26 Number Chungi

It is pertinent to note earlier in September, the civic agency announced to launch of the bus service on 13 routes in two phases with a private bus company.
