Karachi: President Arif Alvi on Wednesday assured Karachi’s business community that the government was planning on launching exclusive development projects in the city’s industrial zones — with the initiative falling under the auspices of the ‘Karachi package’ that was announced by Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan last week, a news source reported.

The President made these comments during a meeting with the city’s business community at the Sindh Governor House. The business delegation used the opportunity to raise issues regarding the government’s failure in making financial allocations to the city’s industrial zones in the aforementioned package.
In response, President Alvi stated that he was always there to listen to the business community’s suggestions regarding the Karachi package and that the government was also keen to help resolve their various issues in order to boost the national economy. He further asked the business delegation to submit comprehensive proposals on the matter to the authorities concerned so that appropriate action could be taken in the future.

Governor Sindh Imran Ismail — who was also present during the meeting — asked the city’s business community to submit the said proposals soon, so that they could be included in the PC-1 for the Karachi package. In response, the visiting delegation vowed to submit their proposals within the next couple of weeks.
