Islamabad: The federal government has issued standard operating procedures (SOPs) for businesses and citizens to follow as a precautionary measure against the COVID-19 infection; following its announcement of a gradual relaxation of the countrywide lockdown situation starting May 9 (Saturday), a news source reported.

The general public has been asked by the government to avoid unnecessary travelling unless an emergency, and take precautionary measures if travelling. Anyone travelling should wear a mask and wash their hands or use a sanitizer. They should also use a tissue or a handkerchief while coughing or sneezing which should then be discarded properly.
Furthermore, the guidelines also reiterate that people should not touch their eyes, nose and mouth without washing their hands or using a sanitizer for the purpose. People have also been directed to avoid shaking hands or interact physically with others. Those suffering from symptoms like cough or sneezing have been advised to stay home.

The public transport administrations have been directed to disinfect their vehicles before and after a journey. They are also required to not turn on air conditioners and keep windows rolled down. Installation of thermal scanners have been directed and ensuring availability of hand sanitizers aboard their vehicles.
The SOPs for businesses also focus on the construction sector, however, biometric attendance will remain suspended here. As per the SOPs, offices have to be disinfected and the human interaction, between public and workers, be minimised.
The businesses will also ensure presence of thermal scanners at the entry points of the workplace. The government has also advised avoiding crowding and limit the shifts to eight hours. They have also been asked to provide the employees with quality masks and gloves.

The SOPs for businesses also recommend that the sick should not be tasked with work, and establishment of a separate quarantine area for people exhibiting symptoms.
