Karachi: Advisor to Prime Minister (PM) on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam announced that the federal government will soon issue the Statutory Regulatory Order (SRO) for the electric vehicles industry, a news source reported.

Aslam added that following the issuance of the SRO, the electric vehicles and parts manufacturers and traders will be able to execute the recently announced Pakistan Electric Vehicles Policy for converting vehicles so that may be able to run on electric batteries. The Federal Ministry of Climate Change drafted the policy, and the cabinet approved it.
The advisor informed the manufacturers and traders that they will also receive incentives’ package under this policy. He added that the Federal Ministry, along with his own, were working on developing this package.
According to sources, the new electric vehicles policy will help strengthen the auto industry, along with reducing environmental pollution in the country. The policy will cut down motor emissions by 65%.

The advisor revealed that in Pakistan, Lahore is the most affected by smoke emitted by vehicles.
