Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Thursday reaffirmed his resolve to tackle climate changes and reverse its adverse effects in the country, according to new sources.
The PM made these remarks while addressing a ceremony held about the ‘Ten Billion Tree Tsunami Programme’. During the ceremony, PM also planted the billionth tree at the Makhniyal forest, marking a significant achievement as the first tree was also planted there in September 2018.

Mr Khan said that the environmental preservation initiative focuses on the expansion and restoration of the country’s forests. It also includes tree plantation drive urban areas such as colleges, schools, greenbelts, and public parks.
The PM said that all the efforts to mitigate the effects of global warming and climatic change are for the future generation. He also stated that the waterlogged land in Dera Ismail (DI) Khan was transformed into a jungle. Because of this, birds and wildlife have returned to the area and have also improved the livelihood of people.

While talking at the ceremony, the PM said that Pakistan will be hosting a World Environment Day on June 5. The event will highlight Pakistan’s efforts to tackle environmental issues including global warming and pollution.
