Islamabad: The government has announced its decision to implement the Chinese model of COVID-19 lockdown amidst the rising cases of locally transmitted coronavirus infection cases, a news source reported.

To this effect, the executive plans to lock down every area reporting a COVID-19 case. It will then test the entire population of that area. The government has already enforced a partial lockdown, but the public has repeatedly violated the social distancing measures. These violations have led the government to implement the Chinese model of COVID-19 lockdown for controlling the spread of the coronavirus infection.
While the coronavirus infection originated in China, the country has now effectively contained the virus. China has followed aggressive lockdown and social distancing measures for flattening the curve of new cases.

In Pakistan, the total number of people affected by COVID-19 has exceeded 2,200. The disease has claimed 31 lives, while over 100 people have also made complete recovery. Meanwhile, the number of global coronavirus cases has reached one million.
