Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar on Thursday (Aug 5), announced to withdraw the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project from the Public-Private Partnership Authority (PPPA), according to media reports.

The decision was announced in the 8th meeting of the Public-Private Partnership Policy and Monitoring Board held at the CM Office. The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister for Communication and Works Sardar Asif Nakai, Advisor Dr Salman Shah, Secretary Housing, Planning & Development (P&D) Chairman, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) PPPA, and administrative secretaries.
In the meeting, it was decided that the work on the RRR project will start on PC-1 mode, using the government resources. The meeting members also decided to pull out the Kharian-Dinga Road project from the public-private partnership portfolio.
Moreover, the revised proposals for Multan-Vehari Road, Faisalabad-Chiniot-Sargodha Road, and the water meter project were approved during the meeting.
During the same meeting, the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) requested to give the authority of citizens’ facilitation centres to PPPA. The facilitation centres will be set up on PC-1 mode in Chakwal, Lodhran, Sialkot, and Rahim Yar Khan (RYK).

Furthermore, the CM Usman Buzdar ordered timely completion of all the projects. The decisions taken in the 7th meeting were also endorsed and the attendees of the meeting were briefed on the progress of development projects.
