Islamabad: Federal Minister for Energy Omar Ayub Khan on Wednesday revealed that the government planned to establish 24 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the country as part of steps to control pollution levels, a news source reported.

Speaking at the launching event of the Pakistan State Oil (PSO)’s first EV charging station in Islamabad, he highlighted that the incumbent government was undertaking several initiatives to develop the energy sector. He added that EV station launched was an ‘important step towards a cleaner and greener Pakistan’.
PSO CEO Syed Muhammad Taha stated that under the guidance and support of the government, the company would continue its drive for realising a future of e-mobility in the country. To facilitate this measure, PSO planned to install more EV charging stations at various highways and in major cities of Pakistan, he added.

Taha highlighted that PSO was investing in clean energy solutions to reduce the carbon footprint and establish a better environment for future generations.
