Islamabad: The federal government has earmarked PKR 1.5 billion funds for the construction of infrastructure projects in the capital’s rural areas, a news source reported. As per the publication, Assistant to Prime Minister (PM) on Capital Development Authority (CDA) Affairs Ali Nawaz Awan announced the decision on Monday during a press conference.

Awan said that the government wanted to resolve the traffic problems of the residents of Bharakahu and would perform the ground-breaking of a flyover on August 1. He further said that the CDA had submitted the PC-1s for six major uplift projects to the Ministry of Interior (MOI) for approval and funding.

The PM’s assistant said that the uplift projects were designed to reduce the current traffic influx by widening the road infrastructure in Islamabad. He said that the PC-1s were of special importance because their implementation and completion would fulfil the city’s traffic needs for the coming decades.
