Lahore: Federal Minister for Science & Technology Fawad Chaudhry on Wednesday revealed the government’s decision to conduct a study geared towards analysing COVID-19’s impact on industries, a news source reported.

The minister said that the Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) and Higher Education Commission (HEC) would carry out a joint study in this regard. The study would focus on determining how the novel coronavirus will affect local industries, what new industries might emerge, and which ones might collapse, he said.
Chaudhry revealed that the after conducting the study, the HEC will issue guidelines to the universities accordingly. He added that these guidelines would focus on bringing the relevant changes in university degree plans in order to meet the future industry needs.

The spread of the novel coronavirus, which causes the COVID-19 disease, has significantly affected the local industries. The incumbent government continues to take measures to mitigate these effects.
