Islamabad: The Federal Cabinet on Wednesday (November 10) constituted a committee to resolve compensation issues related to Capital Development Authority (CDA)’s land acquisition, news sources reported. The committee, which will be chaired by a retired High Court Judge or equivalent authority, will investigate and rule on the pertaining matters within 90 days of the application’s filing.
According to the meeting’s minutes, landowners whose land was acquired by CDA but wasn’t compensated for, will be required to file an application with the board’s secretary. The secretary would get feedback on the application from the relevant authorities. This will be followed by the board’s decision within 90 days. The meeting also decided that those whose compensation had been delayed would receive benefits as per Section 5 of CDA Ordinance 1960.
Furthermore, the cabinet directed CDA to provide a development plan for Sector E-12, as well as a timeframe for development, at the next cabinet meeting. The authority acquired Sector E-12 in the late 1980s and issued allotment letters for the same. However, due to a lack of land ownership by landowners, the sector hasn’t been yet developed. However, the government has said that the development of the said sector would be prioritised.
