Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan on Saturday directed the authorities concerned to convert government buildings into temporary shelters in a bid to facilitate flood affectees.

The departments concerned were directed to accommodate the locals hailing from the areas worst hit by damaging rain and snowfall spells. In a similar measure, all primary health centres in the province were declared as temporary shelter homes. The affectees were asked to approach the nearest state-run shelter homes in their respective localities.
Moreover, CM Khan directed the National Highway Authority (NHA) to clear the roads in snow-hit areas on an emergency basis. He expressed his views on the matter during a telephonic conversation with NHA Chairman Jawad Rafique Malik.
In response, Malik said that he would dispatch heavy machinery to clear the roads on an immediate basis. The authority also issued instructions for drivers.

It is pertinent to mention that the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rainfall at scattered locations in Balochistan, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir, Punjab, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
