Lahore: Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry stated that the government intends to build fats for journalist community, news sources reported.

Minister Fawad made the announcement while presiding over a meeting in Lahore with leaders of the Punjab Union of Journalists and elected members of the Punjab Assembly press gallery. According to the minister, the flats would be built on a 2,000-kanal land area, with each flat measuring 5 marlas.

He further stated that under the Prime Minister’s Kamyab Jawan Programme, journalist community would be offered easy loans ranging from PKR 1 million to PKR 3 million. All of these loans will be made available following necessary authorization from provincial and federal press clubs. The media persons were informed that the government is contemplating large-scale assistance and uplift programmes for journalists. Members of the Union of Journalists and other individuals attended the meeting.
