Quetta: The Government of Balochistan on Monday expressed its concern over the ongoing practice of building commercial structures on residential plots in the city; calling for an all-out ban on the issue with immediate effect, according to news sources. This decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister (CM) Jam Kamal Khan Alyani.

The meeting also decided to formulate the legislation to amend the rules and regulations of the Quetta Development Authority (QDA) and Quetta Metropolitan Corporation (QMC) for banning the construction of commercial structures in the city’s residential areas.

Additionally, the meeting mulled the Quetta city’s master plan and 30 other towns in the province. The secretary of Urban Planning and Development told the meeting members that the hiring of consultant services for the master plan will be completed by the month’s end.
The meeting also banned the construction work on new roads being developed under the Quetta package that includes Sariab Road, Joint Road, Sabzal Road, Prince Road and Nawa Killi, Patel Road.
