Multan: The Punjab Government approved funds worth PKR 300 million for the conservation of 18 monuments, a news source reported. The Auqaf Department will receive the funds for this purpose. Among the 18 monuments, 11 are located in South Punjab.

The approved funds will be invested in development work as well as geo-mapping of the Auqaf properties using computer technology. According to sources, funds would also be used for the automated collection of donations at shrines.
An official of the Auqaf Department stated that the approved funding has been included in the Annual Development Plan (ADP) of the Punjab budget for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2019-20. The authorities concerned will also build Quran Mehals (Palaces) at the divisional level in Punjab using the approved resources.

The Auqaf Department will carry out 22 schemes with the help of these funds, seven of which are ongoing projects. The ongoing schemes include work on shrines and mosques, along with construction of the Quran Mehals.
