Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has approved the land purchase for Dir Motorway for 13 months at an accumulated cost of PKR 3,227.74 million, according to news published in the national dailies on July 20.

Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan mentioned that the acquisition of requisite land and implementation of the project should be timely completed. He also added that existing rules and regulations should be strictly followed during the execution of the project.
Moreover, the chief minister stated that the mega highway projects are significant for sustainable development in the province. He further stated that the development of the Dir Expressway and Peshawar-DI Khan Motorway will promote trade, tourism, and economic activities in the region. It was revealed that the government has already approved both projects under a public-private partnership.

It is pertinent to note that the 30-kilometre-long Dir Expressway starts from Chakdara till Rabat. This will decrease the distance by 27-kilometre and will feature a four-lane expressway, three interchanges, and two tunnels.
