Islamabad: The federal government on Wednesday approved of a PKR 2,000 increment in the Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) pension for senior citizen across the country, according to news sources.
The approval was granted during a federal cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan in Islamabad. The decision was made in light of the premier’s earlier announcement back on December 12, 2019 regarding the increase in the minimum pension amount from PKR 6,500 to PKR 8,500.
The aforementioned initiative is another step in fulfilling Special Assistant to Prime Minister Zulfi Bukhari’s December 2019 promise to raise the pension rate to PKR 15,000 by the end of the incumbent government’s first term.
