Peshawar: The Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) has given the final approval of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) ‘New Peshawar Valley’ master plan, news sources reported on June 05. The 1,86,400-kanal mega-city will have residential, commercial and recreational zones with the state of the art facilities.

Reportedly, the approval for the first phase of the project was given during the 8th board meeting on Saturday (June 04). In the first phase, 62,056 residential plots of various sizes have been proposed, including 16,312 plots spanning 3-marla, 17,201 plots of 5-marla, 3402 plots of 7-marla, 9,526 plots of 10-marla, and 13,415 plots of 1-kanal, 1494 plots of 2-kanal, and 706 plots of 4-kanal sizes.
Moreover, approximately 8,000-kanal land has been set aside for the supply of need-based residential plots. Furthermore, it was also revealed that the housing scheme will be built on over 1,864,000 kanals of land, with 41% of the land dedicated to residential plots and flats and 28% dedicated to road infrastructure. Moreover, 16% of the area would be used for parks and open spaces, 7% for public buildings, and 5% for commercial operations and parking.

Furthermore, a 2% area has been recommended for cemetery use. Some of the smart features of the project include:

- Media Enclave
- Sports City
- Education and Health City quipped with state-of-the-art facilities of international standard
- Mega park with the nomenclature of ‘Khyber Park’ with Gandhara Museum, theme park, forest, adventure arena and all other state-of-the-art recreational facilities

On the occasion, Chief Minister (CM) Mehmood urged the concerned authorities to issue plot intimation letters to the owners of confirmed lands within a week, stating that no delay would be permitted in this regard.
