Islamabad: The federal government has allowed the investors of PKR 40,000 denomination prize bonds to register these savings instruments by March 31, 2020, a news source reported.

The finance ministry said that the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has allowed the people to convert their bearer bonds into Premium Prize Bonds (financial instruments registered with the government) within the stipulated time frame.
The PKR 40,000 denomination prize bonds can be converted into Premium Prize Bonds by processing through 16 field offices of the State Bank’s Banking Services Corporation, as well as authorised branches of six commercial banks: National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), United Bank Limited (UBL), MCB Bank Limited, Allied Bank, Habib Bank Limited (HBL), and Bank Alfalah.
Moreover, these financial instruments can be converted into Special Saving Certificates (SSC) or Defence Savings Certificates (DSC) through 16 field offices of the SBP Banking Services Corporation, authorised commercial banks, and National Savings Centres.

According to the finance ministry, the rate of return on the DSC and the SSC is 12.47% and 11.57%, respectively.
