A senior official of the Energy Ministry stated that all stakeholders had given their approval for the new model for development of North South Gas Pipeline Project. He added that the Petroleum Division had commenced with the initiative following the executive’s approval.
According to the details revealed, the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation had involved a state-owned company in the new model presented. Therefore, the project would undergo implementation as part of a government-to-government agreement.
Sources revealed that the incumbent government wanted to increase the scope of capacity and design of the project so that it could transport 1.6 billion cubic feet gas per day (bfcd) instead of the previously proposed capacity of 1.2 bfcd. The previous capacity structure was stated to be insufficient for meeting future gas demands of the country.
