Islamabad: The Federal Planning, Development and Reform Minister Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiyar said that the government is planning to find permanent solutions to water scarcity and energy problems facing the country, according to a news report.
While giving details, Bakhtiyar said that the government is determined to fight all challenges of water scarcity and also to meet the energy needs of the country through concerted efforts. The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Chairman Lt. General (Retd.) Muzammil Hussain briefed the minister on a number of ongoing projects related to energy, power and water resources.
Meanwhile, the meeting also discussed the government priorities and the availability of funds for water, power and energy sectors. Hussain informed the minister of the progress in ongoing water projects including Diamer-Bhasha, Kurran Tangi, Dasu and Mohmand dams, as well as Reni and Kachi Canal.
