Islamabad: A committee is being set up by the Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as a plan to regularise a multi-storey building that is under construction on One Constitution Avenue. This is planned to be a compensation for those who had invested in this project. The matter has been brought to attention because of a cancelled land lease.
The initiative was taken up by Qamar Afzal, the counsel for several former officials of the Capital Development Authority (CDA). Afzal, while addressing a division bench of the Islamabad High Court led by Justice Aamer Farooq, said that the proposed plan is directed towards CDA regularising the building as it had previously already stated it irregular and illegal.
Previously, the court had barred both FIA and NAB from taking this case further, but now the jury’s out on declaring and regularising the illegal construction.
