According to news, PPP-led government has promised to give 500 square yards residential plots in Islamabad to bureaucrats once they reach Grade 22. The predecessors of PPP government have also been guaranteeing plots to Grade 22 bureaucrats.
Sources reveal several federal secretaries, who are unhappy, had been jostling for a plot in D-12 sector since it is a high priced posh area holding great significance in real estate market. This has created a feeling of jealously in the ranks of top bureaucrats because everybody cannot get a plot in sector D-12.
A 500 square yard plot in sector D-12 costs around 20 million. Stressed officials decided to allot similar size plots in other “comparable area” earlier this year. The division asked CDA to reserve 200 plots in areas comparable to D-12 sector where costs should not be above than the plots allotted to BS-22 in Sector D-12.
Sources say that Nargis Sethi, cabinet division secretary, gave instructions to reserve 200 plots for the future but Qazi Ayub, who is the officer of Prime Minister’s house, says no instructions have been issued in this regard to the cabinet division.
The Former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and Shaukat Aziz allotted 30 and 47 plots respectively to federal secretaries in sector D-12.
A bitter federal secretary, who did not disclose his name, says that he could not get a plot in D-12 because the former prime minister had to accommodate his close fellows there. Shafqat Jalil from the office of Prime Minister highlights that behind the allotment of residential plots to Grade 22 officers, there is a well-laid policy of the government.
